Ten Months

Janey is now 10 months old and just keeps getting cuter and cuter. She cruises around so much and so quickly that she might as well be walking. She loves to give super tight hugs and super slobbery kisses.
Here she is trying to give her buddy, Samara, a hug. She gave her some pretty good hugs, but we didn't get any good ones on camera. Samara tolerates her energy pretty well, but occasionally gets nervous.
Janey loves to play catch, expecially with this volleyball. She'll also cruise around the house kicking it for quite a while, which of course her daddy loves.

Aggressively Affectionate

Janey can be very affectionate in her own aggressive way. She loves giving kisses ... that more often than not resemble bites. She slaps, pinches, pokes, pulls and body-slams, but in her own loving way. I have bruises all over my arms from how much love she gives. Playtime with other babies can be challenging. She loves them, we just can't let her get too close. She is, however, a great, non-violent sharer. Last Sunday at church she passed toys back and forth with the boy in the pew behind us for a good 10 minutes. If she gives something up or it gets taken away she is more than happy to move on. Her understanding of the world around her is amazing. She is so smart and we love her so much, bruises and all.
Janey has decided that diaper changes are bad and will do everything in her power to escape. We see this quite often.

Hana??

Vintage Janey

Nothing noteworthy happened this week, except Janey finally got her first tooth, and I took no pictures, so here are some old pictures of Janey for your viewing pleasure.

Conference and Easter

We had a great Conference / Easter weekend. I realize Easter isn't until this Sunday, but it seems everyone was celebrating it early. Conference was of course wonderfully uplifting, what I was able to hear of it that is. After Conference on Saturday we went to an Easter Egg dying party and had dinner with our awesome friends. I sadly got no pictures.
On Sunday we went to my parents house and had our traditional Conference breakfast of waffles and strawberries (so delicious, my dad makes the best).
We spent some time stretching our legs outside in the wonderful weather.
We did some laundry. Kimber wanted to try on all of Janey's clothes (6-9 months).
Here is Kimber in one of her many outfits of the day. I'm pretty sure there were more than 10 just while I was there. That is a collapsible colander on her head and a Piglet tattoo on her arm.
Then we had wonderful Easter dinner with my family. I am so grateful that they live so close that we get to see them whenever we want.

Nine Months

Janey turned 9 months on Saturday. To celebrate we went to a baptism, in which Janey made spitting noises during the whole thing (her dad's been kind enough to work on that skill with her). Luckily, she's cute enough that everyone thought it was funny rather than disturbing. And, thanks to Celine and Cameron, we were introduced to Berry Swirl Frozen Yogurt, so delicious.

We went to the zoo with Stephanie, Curtis and Ashlee and had a blast. It was a gorgeous day for the zoo and it seems all the animals were out playing for us to enjoy. Thanks Stephanie for letting us use your super awesome backpack.

And we found someone famous that shares Janey's name. Who knows, maybe she'll be an artiste too.

Trouble

Thank you lovely Aunt Sarah for capturing this picture. Janey is still teething, thus her tongue is visible quite often.

It seems Janey has decided that playing contentedly in one spot is boring so she has begun exploring. As any parent knows, this means trouble. Especially when the house isn't baby-proofed. Everything I look at in my apartment looks like a death trap to me and I just want to get rid of it all. How do you baby-proof a wall-mounted heater?
On a lighter note, we went to a thrift store on Saturday with Becky and Samara. A grandfatherly type fellow started talking to Janey to which she started talking back, a very common occurrence. A couple minutes later the store clerk came over with a mug saying the man bought it for Janey. It made my day ... Janey didn't care.
Janey and I were doing laundry the other day and I gave her one of the quarters to hold on to while I searched for more. When I took it away to put in the machine, she freaked out. So I gave her a penny and she instantly calmed down. She held the penny like that for the rest of the night and I had to pry it out of her fingers when she fell asleep. The next day she tried the eat the penny, putting an end to coins as toys. So sad, she loved that penny.
Joe wanted me to make sure and tell everyone that Janey has said her first words and they are "hi dada." He's so proud.
