My First Baby's First Birthday

So I'm a little late on this post. I couldn't find my camera cord, then I couldn't find my camera, but they are now both located and I have the time.
We had a lovely, small party at my parents' house. Janey loved playing with her friends ...... but not so much her cake. She stuck her thumb in it then got mad at it for making her hand sticky and threw it on the floor. I think she had one bite that I put in her mouth. I wouldn't be devastated if she didn't get her mama's sweet tooth.So I had a whole year to learn how to be a mom to a baby, now I have to learn how to be a mom to a toddler. Who knew they were only babies for so short a time?
The best way to describe Janey at this point is passionate. She loves what she loves and hates what she hates and she has no problem letting you know. It's a good thing she still loves her mom and dad. Some other things she loves: Grandma, baby dolls, balls, the beach, cheese, water, independence, other kids/babies, standing in the dishwasher, being outside, hugs and kisses, dancing/spinning, jumping on the bed (not hers). We LOVE our little, passionate, crazy baby girl.Thank you all who got her gifts, she is so lucky.

New Ride

Thanks to the generosity of lovely Tami, Janey has a new ride. She looks super tiny in it, but LOVES it. She can finally see everyone else in the car and be part of the action.

Working Girl

Janey came with me to work today. She was pretty good, but didn't like me sitting at my desk very much. She would have much rather had me exploring her new playground with her.

Good Bye Separation Anxiety

We went with some friends to Balboa Park for the free museum and all Janey wanted to do was play in the water. She got pretty mad at me for rescuing her a couple times.


Janey and I went to a graduation at El Camino HS on Friday. It was like no other graduation I have ever been to. It was more an entertaining hour rather than a commencement. It consisted of people singing and the valedictorian giving her speech, no other boring speakers. Janey and I just hung out on the lawn enjoying ourselves and making new friends. She kept walking over to all the people around us and they all loved her. This family, in particular, made me laugh because they were so much bigger than her and she just stayed there so comfortable. We unfortunately never found the girl that we came to see because there were so many people there, so I made Janey model the lei that I made for Kaylin so at least she could have a picture of it.

Dancing Queen

It has been mentioned before that Janey LOVES to dance, but her dancing has now attained a new level. She is getting really into it, shaking all over the place. We tried to get a video to post because it has to be seen, but to no avail. We'll keep trying. We were watching So You Think You Can Dance tonight and while the people were dancing she stood still, rapt (which, for Janey, is a feat in itself). We used to think she would be a dentist because she can't keep her hands out of our mouths, but now I'm not so sure.It is official ... she is walking everywhere.

I AM 30

I had my 30th birthday yesterday. It feels like it should be more significant. It does feel a little wierd to be married to someone in their 20's though.
It was a grand day filled with delicious food, good friends, loving family and wonderful weather (it was super cloudy the day before and it actually rained today). Joseph let me sleep in and then made me a delicious breakfast. After fighting with Janey to take a nap we went to lunch with some friends at one of my favorite restaurants, Norte, formerly Fidel's Norte (boo to the change). Becky and I then took the babies to the park by the beach to give us all a little exercise.

Then off to my parents for waffles for dinner, where Donnie surprised me with a live chicken as a gift (he took it with him when he left, the actual gift was fresh eggs). Janey liked the cage more than the chicken.It was a perfect day.
And here is my invalid dad. No wheelchair and stapled together foot can beat him.

Tourist for the Day

A long-time family friend, Jennifer, came into town over the weekend and we got to play tourist for the day with her. It was a lot of fun and really good to see her.
We went on a harbor cruise of San Diego Bay ... Janey LOVED it and wouldn't look at me long enough to take a picture.
And we walked around Sea Port Village. Jen took Janey on the carousel. Janey refused to sit on a horse so Jen and Kenny had to sit in the seat with her.And we went to Belmont Park (no pictures). We had so much fun and we hope to see you again soon, Jen and company.
