I Knew it Wouldn't Last

I love my girly girl, but the terrible two's are definitely upon us. It seems, at least, that with the increase in quantity and quality of tantrums, there has been an increase in love, caring and cuteness ... especially now that she's started potty training and I get to see her nudy booty much more frequently.
The above picture is because I pulled her away from the shoe section at Target. She sure loves trying on shoes, mostly the ones with sparkles on them. I don't remember what set off the tantrum below, but they're a regular occurrence at the laundromat (she insisted on wearing those pants and put them on herself, if you can't tell).

Now on to the cuteness. Below, Janey is showing off her skills in jumping over a super safe ditch in front of our house.

And here is Janey's awesome nudy booty. We haven't technically started potty training, but whenever we're home she spends a good amount of time walking around like this and has only had a couple of accidents. She has the control, she just doesn't want to go on the potty.
We tried panties to see if she could tell the difference from a diaper, but she has more success in the buff. I do, however, love how cute she is in her strawberry panties ... and heels.

And Janey being cute on her new trike doing about all she knows how to so far. She likes to yell, "Go fast, go fast," but doesn't quite get the whole peddling thing, so it ends up being me who makes her go fast.

Last Week

I didn't remember having this many pictures on my camera. I went to download them for one picture and a message popped up that said "downloading 1 of 68 pictures." I guess I take a lot of pictures, but I have some really good ones to show for it, so I don't regret it.
One rainy day last week (in July) we went to Ikea for some good indoor fun. The kids love it because they have all of their toys out to test and they have more than one so they don't have to share. The picture below is right after Janey bumped her head and Lila came over to give her a hug and kiss.
To which Janey responded in kind. They don't share very well, but they sure are sweet. I love how Lila is leaning into the kiss. I think the girls enjoyed these cart things more than all the other toys combined. They followed each other through half of Ikea.
Then we went to the Dollar Tree "real quick." This is Janey asking "pwease" can she have this gun. I told her she could pick one thing, so we went home with some Sesame Street paper plates. Whatever. I'm just happy she understood the concept of picking one.
This is the picture I originally wanted off my camera, but then came away with all the other gems. Here she is at work having to find ways to entertain herself, which she does an awesome job at. My favorite part is after she got her chair up there and sat on it, she yelled, "I did it!" with so much joy. Work is way more fun (and challenging) with a toddler. If you ever want to borrow her, let me know.
And here she is drawing me "fwowers." I helped her with some, but she wouldn't give me complete control, so they ended up a little toddler-ish. It made me laugh, so that's why you get this picture.
Yesterday Janey was walking her baby around in the kitchen saying, "walking, walking," over and over again. She really loves babies so much and has the best mothering instincts. She has maybe a little too much love to give though. Sometimes I'm afraid that she really will smother babies; she just can't get enough baby kisses.

I Forgot

These pictures were taken a couple weeks ago, but I didn't post them because I wanted them to go with Janey's birthday post, but then I forgot. Aunt Becky was going to be out of town for Janey's birthday, so thoughtful her brought Janey a gift the week before. Of course Janey loved it because it was dress up stuff, complete with two bags and jewelry.

And here she is at work playing with the shoes. She's not very good at walking in them. I've discovered that if she can't walk well, she can't run away well either, so I'm going to start putting them on her when we go shopping.

Janey's Second Birthday

My baby is now 2. So far so good. The above picture is us shopping for her birthday dinner. All it took was a whole chocolate bar to get her through the shopping trip.
The dinner at my parents house was delightful; the perfect birthday party for someone who doesn't know what a birthday is.This next picture was taken on Janey's birth minute (9:50 a.m.) using my rear view mirror as a guide. Picture taking while driving isn't illegal, right?
The plan for her birthday was to spend the day at the beach with whoever wanted to join. It ended up being kind of rainy and cold and only Lila came. They were entertained on the playground for a while, but all they really wanted to do was play on the beach and in the water.





Ella wanted to join us at the beach, but after she heard it was super cold they invited us to the hot tub instead (much better idea). It was so nice soaking in the warmth after getting rained on.

After the hot tub we were going to go to Sea World for a bit, but my boss called in a panic and had to get something out that day, so I worked on it, grinding my teeth the whole time, for 3 hours (he didn't even get it out, grrrrrrr). Joseph came home right when I finished and saved the day. We went and got pizza down the street and stopped at the donut shop on the way back.
Played a little at home, then slept well that night. Even after all the changed plans, I think she had a great birthday.
And that's not all. Today at work we had another party. My work will jump at any excuse to have a party. Here is Janey in her fairy dress just being cute.

and cake. I couldn't get her to look away from the cake and at the camera. Makes my brownies look kinda dumb.

Like I said, so far so good. Two is treating us well. Some things I've learned about being Janey's mom:
1. She is her mom and dad's daughter (read: super stubborn)
2. There are one and a half million shades of pink
3. Fruit snacks is a food group
4. Kisses cure everything
5. "Pwease" will get you anything
6. Water makes any activity more fun
7. You can't go to Sea World too often
8. Or watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang too many times
9. Toys are no fun until someone else thinks they are
10. There is no better feeling than the love of and for a child

On the Camera

These were pictures on my camera from before Janey's birthday, so they are getting posted first. The above picture is of Janey practicing on the toilet. She hasn't actually figured it out yet, but sure enjoys sitting on it.
Below, Janey has caught the cress up bug. She chose her own outfit and then decided she needed different shoes ... what a girl. Her aunties got her fairy dress up outfits for her birthday and she has thoroughly enjoying them.


Janey's favorite friend and baby playing a crib together, what could be better? Doesn't baby Miles look like a doll?And these were at work. She has more fun than I realized, I guess I don't have to feel as guilty.

Happy Canada Day

Look, Jeni, she's wearing her Canada shirt. We celebrated the day by going to the fair, where Janey got her hand stamped with a smiley face. She quite enjoyed giving it lots of kisses.
She wanted to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (like she does every waking moment), but I told her we had to take pictures of her in her shirt first ... she was being quite the model. I guess Chitty is my new bribe.
Notice the remote in her hand. I think she was trying to tell me something ... too many pictures, not enough "Bang Bang."
