We HATE the Hospital

Three weeks ago Janey got croup. We went to the doctor and she got better, but kept the cough. Last week she got a high fever, still had the cough and spent a couple days like this on my lap. We went back to the doctor on Sunday and they gave her a couple breathing treatments, but her oxygen levels were too low, so our doctor got us a bed in the hospital. Turns out, she had a bacterial pneumonia, which she got from her viral cough hanging out too long and it attracting bacteria. Basically, the common cold went very bad. Without the oxygen tube in her nose her oxygen levels were at about 85%. Apparently, at 82% you can start getting brain damage.
The tube in her nose was giving her oxygen, the one on her toe was the oxygen sensor and the one in her hand was the iv giving her fluids and antibiotics. She HATED the tubes.

After three days in the hospital we finally saw a smile. The next picture was taken right before we left last night. The stickers on her cheeks were holding the oxygen tube in place.
We're home now, doing much better and NEVER want to go back to the hospital even though we are super grateful for the help we got. Thank you all for your thoughts, well-wishes and prayers.

This Week, As Promised

This girl loves shoes ... still doesn't quite get how to match them with her outfit.
I guess she just likes all accessories.
Janey goes straight for this cover thing outside of our house every time we leave because it kind of bounces/shakes. Maybe we should get a trampoline.
Tonight Janey was directing my face where she wanted it by placing her hands on my cheeks. To get her to stop I stuck my tongue out, but it turns out she liked it. She put her hand flat up to my mouth like she was going to catch my tongue when it came out again. When I stuck it out again she licked it. Yep, we touched tongues.

Who Knew Valentine's Day Was a Real Holiday

Let alone a week long event that needs its own blog entry. Luckily Janey has so many clothes that she had a week's worth of clothes with hearts on them ... and she loves sugar.
This was our ward playgroup party. She got more candy than Halloween. After the passing out of candy (and cards) we went to the park where she loved most of all playing in the mud, watching this little girl play with snails.
We spent lots of time with Curtis the last couple weeks because his mom was expecting her second child, which she had Thursday: little Taylor. I love little kids hugging as much as I love them holding hands.
Trying on Momma's shoes, which isn't very Valentiny, but she is in the outfit dubbed her Valentine outfit given to her by a lady that I work by and we went to work that day where we saw that lady.
At the Primary Valentine party, playing with a "baby." We made Valentine posters for all the inactive kids and delivered them with some cookies. It was pure chaos, but I don't think getting the whole primary together in that kind of setting could be anything but chaos.
This is Janey with her special baby Valentine flower from daddy. She LOVED it. It has proven to be a very resilient little plant. For the record, he got me beautiful, pink, bigger Valentine flowers. We got him chocolate. Everyone was happy.
Today I was sitting on the couch having a pretty crummy day, when Janey came over, lifted up my shirt and planted her face right on my belly. She was mimicking when we blow on her belly. I laughed super hard so she just kept doing it. My day definitely got better after that.

I Have a Beautiful Baby

Apparently, certain unblogging members of my family are upset because us "bloggers" are slacking. Well, its true. Here is my re-commitment to keep you up to date on my beautiful baby. And that is what I concluded as I was sorting through which pictures to upload: I have a VERY beautiful baby! Here is what's been going on with her mostly.
We visited the Humane Society behind our house to see the dogs and cats and the only one we got to pet was the stone one.
Janey got her own umbrella because of all the rain and loves playing with it. She hasn't quite figured out how to use it to keep the rain from getting her. And it makes for some cute pictures.

We went with some friends to see a pretty creepy puppet show at Balboa Park. Little kids holding hands is one of my favorite things.
Our niece Sierra got baptized, yay! We went to their house after church on Sunday and Janey was in heaven with the twin babies. She kept going back and forth between them giving hugs and kisses.
Joseph and I got called to team-teach the 6 year old primary class. So far we are having a lot of fun, but miss getting to talk to any adults on Sundays.
Spent a rainy day at the mall with Kimber and Grandma. I think they rode on every ride-on toy there was.
Then we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to build forts out of boxes thanks to Grandpa. So much fun.
Finally reunited with our Samara. They've been out of town forever.
Last Sunday in Primary Joe volunteered to be dressed up as a snowman by the children for some enriching activity. I was told it had to be posted on my blog.
And finally, happy Mardi Gras. Some girl gave away her Mardi Gras beads on freecycle to Janey's pure enjoyment.

Here are some pictures of stuff we did this month.
Janey and I spent an enjoyable morning at the beach in our warm winter weather (no sarcasm, it was probably 75 degrees that day). It made us both wish for summer to arrive.Waiting for mom so patiently.
Visiting our friend Curtis. They both had a lot of fun feeding each other. Curtis was a gentleman feeding Janey one cracker at a time. Janey got a huge handful and stuffed it in his mouth ... he didn't seem to mind.
Her new favorite activity: running away from me naked with her towel cape. I got some better pictures, but none that Joseph would let me post on the internet.
We took a walk to Joseph's school so he could sell books and visited a beautiful garden on campus while we were there.

Visiting Curtis again. They were good enough to take us in one rainy afternoon when we were sick of being cooped up at our house.
Playing in the rain puddles outside our front door ... even though I guess it doesn't really look like it.

New Year's Day

So, I guess I forgot about the whole blog. Time to get caught up. On New Year's Day we took the trolley to Sea Port Village and had a picnic. There were a ton of boats in the harbor.
